What are the best shopping streets in Rotterdam? We offer an inside guide of well-known and lesser-known shopping streets in several districts of Rotterdam.

Coolsingel
The Coolsingel is the most famous street of Rotterdam. Here you’ll find for example the big department store Bijenkorf, one of the largest establishments of the department store chain in the Netherlands. Book fanatics must check out Donner, the biggest book store in the Netherlands.

Beurstraverse (nickname: Koopgoot) and Beursplein
Under the Coolsingel goes the well-known Koopgoot that forms part of the square Beursplein. In the Koopgoot as well the Beursplein you will find several chains like Zara, H&M (the biggest of Europe), Weekday and very Dutch C&A and Hema.

Hoogstraat
Not directly the most attractive street in Rotterdam, but the historical street Hoogstraat will lead you to the Markthal and the Rotterdam’s biggest market based on the Binnenrotte held on Saturday and Tuesday.

Nieuwe Binnenweg and Oude Binnenweg
The Nieuwe Binnenweg is made for alternative shoppers. You will also like its bars, bistros and terraces dotted in this widespread street all the way to historic Delfshaven.

Kruiskade
The so called High End Fashion District Rotterdam can be found on the Kruiskade, the most chic part of Rotterdam concerning shopping. Exclusive shops as Oger, Schaap and Citroen (juweller), Shoebaloo (shoe shop), Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger and Coccinelle are all established here. Tired? Take a cocktail in Hilton Rotterdam.

West-Kruiskade
This West-Kruiskade, situated on the other side of the concert hall Doelen, is a complete other story than the Kruiskade concerning shopping. You can expect here a multi-cultural offer of shops: tokos, weave shops and other exotic stuff.

Meent
The Meent is an exclusive shopping street right in the centre of Rotterdam. You can expect a great offert of quality shops. Also a perfect street for a proper lunch, for example in the well-known grand café Dudok – you will certainly love the hearty ‘appelgebak’ (apple pie).

Oldenbarneveltstraat
Comparable with the Meent: the Oldenbarneveltstraat. Fashion shops, specialist shops and beauty shops. Lunch and drink? Check out wine bar l’Ouest.

Pannekoekstraat and Botersloot
Original shops and boutiques are all present in the Pannekoekstraat and the next to it situated Botersloot. In the latter street Very Cherry is a specialist in 1950`s fashion. Check out Gallery Urban Photos for old style pictures of Rotterdam, while cigar lovers will be happy at Van Dalen Cigars.

Lijnbaan
Note that the Lijnbaan was once a very revolutionary shopping concept. Those days are gone, but it’s still a busy shopping street popular at a broader shopping audience.

Witte de Withstraat
Probaby the most pleasant shopping street for international visitors. This hip and brimming street is dotted with galleries and fashion stores. Also a great offert of bars and small restaurants can be found in the most popular street of Rotterdam.

Hofbogen
You will love this quite new shopping area that was once a railway. You can expect a varied range of record shops, bakeries, coffee bars, fine restaurants and more.

Zwaanshals and Zaagmolenkade
The more adventurous shoppers must definitely also visit northern Rotterdam where you will find the pearls: Zwaanshals and Zaagmolenkade, both part of the neighbourhood Oude Noorden. The Zwaanshals is dotted with small but fine specialists and lovely eating houses. Also check out the Zaagmolenkade that is next to the Zwaanshals at the Rotte. For connoisseurs that avoid the crowd.
