The Kunsthal Rotterdam, situated in the Museumpark, was opened in 1992 by a design of Rem Koolhaas. The Kunsthal is organizing several temporal exhibitions instead of a permanent collection. When you visit the Kunsthal you can visit several expositions at the same time and for that reason you can expect a lot of variation.
The building Kunsthal
The Kunsthal was for Rem Koolhaas one of his first designs. The Kunsthal developed into one of the icons of modern architecture. Praised are the placing (at a dyke), the location of the entrance and the use of innovative materials.
The compact exhibition building offers space to 3300 square metres spread spread over three large halls, a photo gallery and a design gallery. The building includes also an auditorium, a cafe-restaurant, a book shop and a VIP-room. The Kunsthal is joining the Museum Night in March transforming into a lively spot during the evening hours.
