Rotterdam’s most visited building attracts yearly more than 8 million visitors. In the form of a bow the complex accommodates a market hall, apartments, a parking garage and the Horn of Plenty, the biggest work of art in the world. The Markthal was designed by architects MVRDVA in 2014.

Food and great architecture

More than 100 stalls sell everything from Dutch cheese and ‘stroopwafel’ to all kind of international food. Besides the stalls you can expect several restaurants shops. Also great to just walk around and gape at the great architecture of the horseshoe-shaped building and the artwork above.

Artwork on the ceiling

It’s hard to miss: the impressive artwork on the ceiling. The ‘Horn of Plenty’ by Arno Coenen is covering 11.000 m2 of bright colors and shapes, with reason called the Sistine Capel of Rotterdam.
